Here’s what you need to know about the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin.
+ Katy Perry’s hosting! Fun and fashion are expected… if not DEMANDED!
+Rock royalty Foo Fighters and Green Day, hip-hop kingpin Jay-Z,the lycanthropic Shakira, and the gorgeous Leona Lewis will all perform too.
+ … And Hometown heroes TOKIO HOTEL will perform! LIVE. Digest that.
+ U2 will hold a special musical performance in front of Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate.
+ Pete Wentz will be hosting the online show with exclusive backstage access.
+ And THE JONAS BROTHERS AND BACKSTREET BOYS are presenting! It’s like boy bands’ greatest hits go to Germany!
+ More presenters include the darling Miranda Cosgrove, and the empirically bananas-hot Bar Refaeli, Joss Stone, and more.
It’s like the VMAs but with a more impressive passport.

For your reading pleasure, here are a few of the more interesting tidbits and gossip we picked up at today’s EMA press conference:
- U2 was personally invited by the mayor of Berlin himself to play their short set at the Brandenburg Gate tomorrow! Bono was also present at the very first EMAs which took place in Berlin, making this the ONLY city the EMAs have ever returned to.
- Katy Perry confirmed that a lot of this year’s costumes are inspired by the film, Cabaret and told us that the set will at some point turn into the ‘Katy Kat Club.’ She also promised a sexy sight with “lots of costumes and less clothes” filled with “feathers, sparkles, garters and booby things.” Hmmm…we’ll just leave it at that.
- Katy confirmed that she’s so fearless, she won’t mind if she falls down. Or if she has a wardrobe malfunction.
- Joss Stone told us that she’s looking forward to the 2009 EMA: Red Carpet Show and that she’s going to focus on asking the stars about the reason they’re here: music!
- 2009 EMA: All Access host Pete Wentz promised that he’s going to spend part of the backstage show learning how to speak naughty German phrases from none other than Tokio Hotel

In a new tweet from the MTV EMAs, they confirm that David Hasselhoff will be one of the award presenters, but they don’t say which one. Maybe the EMAs did this just for Georg, and we can assume they’re going to win Best Group and the Hoff will present? Or maybe that’s going a little too far?
