Now the boys from Tokio Hotel. How are you? Bill: Hi. Good morning. We're fine. Preparing now for the next tour.
How was 2009 for you really? What kind of year was for you? Bill: For us it was really a busy year. As a band worked hard and were in elementary studio and recorded many songs and then the album was released and played live much. Now we're really emmocionados by the tour next year. It was actually a very successful year and next year we hope for many good concerts and a good tour and everything goes as planned.
Yes, of course. And what was your best time in 2009.? Bill: Well I think the best moment was when our album was released because we worked really long on that album and we did not know what people think of him and if they would be satisfied and if you would consider good and that one actually due most thrilling moments and never forget, and everything was great and we can be really happy this year.
Yes, everything is really great but tell me, Tokio Hotel sold incredibly well, but as you doing to be so famous? What is the secret behind Tokio Hotel? Tom: Hm I think it is our bassist.
Bassist? and how is that? Tom: Well the looks incredibly well and has a hairstyle incredibly good and can play bass incredibly well.
Yes, and the lyrics of your songs? They are about love, anger, grief, they all sound really mature, and you are so young. How they manage to write songs like this? Bill: Well, it does not matter how old you are, just write about life. We have so many concerns as adults. And there is no recipe for fame. Just work hard and you need luck of course.
And of course honesty. But you also you have songs in English? It feels different to sing songs in English and German? Bill: Absolutely. I think the two are different versions. And then you write songs in both languages and you get two different songs, and then we could not decide where to stay we made two.
Yes, because this has much success in other countries and in South America and all. Tokio Hotel had a huge evolution. But still remember your beginnings: the dti of Durch den Monsun? Bill: Oh yeah, a lot has happened since then. It's really fun for us to remember those times and then you see anything experienced in such a short time. We visited many countries and played many concerts. We feel good about that. We feel good with every song we play old and also at our shows. We are proud and really happy that we still have that possibility of launching a new album and touring.
And there are some other artist with whom you would like to work? Bill: For us it really difficult to decide because all listen to different music so it is difficult to choose an artist. But in fact we would like to play with Steven Tyler or Aerosmith because this is a band that we all love and are really good and could do something with them.
And there is some plan? Bill: No. No plans. That was just an idea.
Nor with a hip-hop, Tom? Tom: Well, if you could imagine but it is really difficult to find an artist with which to combine, with whom you can write good songs and share some ideas to make one.
Yes it's true. Now you have a really big number of fans. For fans maybe this is not important but the fans are all girls or at least most. Sometimes you have a problem with that? Tom: Well we are children so of course we have no problems with that. We think it's really great that many girls come to our shows and we're happy about that.
And your grandmother? Maybe she comes to a concert? Tom: Our grandmother? She has never been in one, I think. Our family always sees us in some German shows and stuff.
So it helps them live. Tom: Yes, but also works by phone until we return home.
In Skype you? Bill: Oh yeah, Georg with his girlfriend.
Oh Georg with his girlfriend, that's so pretty. Bill: Yes, George is almost all the time on Skype with his girlfriend. When we all hanging out going to the skype.
That is really nice. So you have many fans but there are also people who did not think fit and laugh at you. How do you react to that? Bill: Well actually it's better that way. It would be much worse if they did not really care. It's always nice that people have some opinions about you. There are always people who think they are great and others really hate you. It's really good to have people who really hate you and have an opinion about you that people who do not give a shit.
I bet you all sing your songs in secret. Bill: (laughs) If I can picture that.
And they will also come to Belgium next year, on February 25, I think. What can fans expect from Belgium? Bill: Well, a very very big show, the biggest show so far. Actually we have a 'human city' to take with us. We have a scenario that will be as a city and each city will take it to us. That will be a really big show. We built in London and we're really happy to have something new to offer our fans.
Yes, nice. And now the last question. Bill how long you stand before the mirror, how long it takes you ready? Bill: Hm not really much. Everything has become routine. With the shower and all of an hour.
Oh no hairdressers or makeup artists? Bill: No. I do hair myself.
Ok, it's good to know. Tom you also do it for yourself? Tom: No I do not get hair on my own, are braided and made by a woman.
If. Well guys I thank you for this interview.
