Chapter 9 :

#Katie Speaking

I woke up with a sudden shock of my nightmare, I was breathing continuously, placing my fingers at my cheeks that were soaked with tears, but it was all a dream. What about my tears? They're real, but could there be a real reason for them to fall?

Katie got out of her bed with heavy thoughts of her nightmare, she couldn't let go of what she saw. She went to the bathroom to wash her face, holding her grip on consciousness. A cold splash of water brushed hit her face, washing away her worries, into the sink.
"Now that feels a bit better," Katie smiled as she refreshed her mind to start a new day.
She pretended to move on and say that it was just a dream what happened.

After she finished wearing on her clothes, she went to have breakfast with her mother, Mandy. When Katie was standing at the door of the living room to call her mother, she saw her crying.
"Mom! Mom! What's wrong?" Katie questioned with worry.
Mandy had no reply, she only pointed her finger at the TV, addressing Katie to look at it.
"Why are you watching this?" Katie shed a small tear as she hugged her mother.

Katie's mother had been watching the old videos of Katie and Bill playing in the backyard and of Katie's past birthdays.
"You both were the best pair of kids," Katie's mother sighed.
"I know, I miss him, mom!" Katie cried, her tears falling endlessly.
"Hush, I know. Look at this part! My favorite," Mandy replied.

It was the part when it was Katie's 6th birthday where it was only Bill and Katie, none of her other friends were there. They were both dancing together and running around with Lola. When they were cutting the cake, Bill politely got his small gift and went to Katie with a big smile. He let her open it, and when she took out the bracelet, he took it from her and held her wrist so he would put it in. Katie smiled back at him, and as soon as he finished placing the bracelet, he hugged her and a gave her a kiss on the cheek which turned both of them, red.

When that part of the video finished, Katie glanced at the bracelet, that was still in her hand until now, she brushed it softly with her fingers as she closed her eyes.
"You still love him, don't you?" Katie's mother interrupted Katie's stream of memories that was going through her mind.
"I...I have to move on with life, you know. I can't stick to him when he doesn't even care anymore!" Katie answered, wiping away her tears, trying to be strong.
"I wish he never left you. Oh, never mind sweety, go have breakfast!" Katie's mother said.

Katie left her mother alone in the living room, reaching for the kitchen to have her breakfast. As she was sitting alone, having her delicious meal, she thought about how Chloe knew Bill's full name. She decided to have a look into the photo album again to check if his name was really written in there. She rushed upstairs, to her bedroom. She slipped the album out of her book collection and opened it. She flipped through the pages, but she found nothing. She looked it up again and again, still, nothing was written.

"How did she know?" Katie asked herself.
