The hype around the boys from Tokio Hotel keeps on growing - and raises to some to delusion! Yam spoke with Psychologist Hannes Niggenaber (59) about extreme fan-love.

Yam: What is so fascinating about Tokio Hotel?
The boys from Tokio Hotel embody for a lot of girls the 'ideal' boyfriend, who's always there and never irritates - although they don't even know them at all.
Especially Bill and Tom are the 'ideal-boys' for these fans. However, the boys are acting. Some think of their commitment to the band as their very personal protest against their parents.

Yam: Why are young girls the largest group of their fans?
The sexualities of most of the female followers, who are between 11 and 14 years old, are starting to grow.
For a lot of girls in this age group, boys are still 'aliens'. Still they have the cravings for a 'relationship'.
In their swooning over bands like Tokio Hotel, they can fulfill those yearnings.

Yam:Can extreme fan behavior become dangerous?
Girls, who are completely lost in their love for a band, are vulnerable.
They can't sleep, can't talk about anything else anymore and lose their interest in school or their real friends.
It becomes very dangerous, when these girls are trying to turn their fantasies into reality.

Yam: How long can such a situation continue?
Most of the time it ends in 1 or 2 years. But it goes the quickest when their first boyfriend shows up. That's when 'real love' becomes more important.

Mein Gott!! No, our obsession is not going away you stupid psychiatrist or whatever you are! We love them forever and those are not our main reasons!

mm girls believe me he knows what he's saying... everything he said is true actually but you just dont want to believe it, i say this from experience :/ except that the timing he set to forget the band, the 1 or 2 years is wrong, it'll take a longer time but it'll become one day as a memory that you'll try to put effort in bringng back as strong, but it will stay there inside you

Well, yeah. One of them actually applies for me. The one about its all they talk about. My brother gets mad at me 'cause he says he can't have a normal conversation with me without it relating to Tokio Hotel somehow. :/
