| Review:Tokio Hotel and the EMA's 08
The Europe Music Awards 2008 in Liverpool... after fifteen years, another night of awards, of amazing live performances, of great presenters, music, glamour, of originality and creativity, of celebration, of… of… SPECTACLE!
It all began at 7pm, when the most prestigious artists arrived ON the red carpet that leaded to the entrance of Echo Arena, the place where the ceremony took place.
Amongst the flashes from the paparazzi, the screaming fans and the interviews, Tokio Hotel were a notable presence with their irreverent style; once again, the band was a big flashy to the media.
The ceremony hosted by Katy Perry started with a live performance by her, who showed up dressed as an American footballer on top of a cherry chapstick, making reference to her hit I Kissed a Girl.
The event proceeded with the presence of 10,000 music fans, and the first award of the night went to P!nk, with the single So What in the category of “Most Addictive Track”.
After incredible performances, numerous references to Barack Obama and more prizes, one of the most awaited moment of the night had finally arrived: the winner for Headliner. Despite being confronted with major competitors, nothing stopped them… Tokio Hotel collected one more prize to add to their collection!
Congratulations to the boys!
However, we would have still to know the winner of the other category where the quartet was also nominated: Best Act Ever.
After all the Rickrolling of the past weeks, the tension between Rick Astley fans and TH fans was evident. With a slackly presentation by Katy Perry and Perez Hilton, the prize went to Rick Astley, who wasn’t even at the event; we can say that the Auto-voters did their job right.
Disloyalty aside, the show continued with performances by Kid Rock, Duffy and P!nk, and we can’t forget the moment when Sir Paul McCartney was honored with the Ultimate Legend Award, handed by Bono from U2, who has referred to him as “St. Paul McCartney”.
Despite not risen again to the stage to hand a prize as MTV previously announced, Tokio Hotel delighted the (UK) fans for being present at the ceremony and for receiving with such excitement and passion the trophy “offered” by the fans.

MTV: Tokio Hotel Win Headliner Award
The group beat Metallica and Linkin Park to the prestigious prize… Tokio Hotel have picked up the Headliner award at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 in Liverpool. The German band won the award and hit the stage to collect it from England footballer Michael Owen and singer Anastacia. Tokio Hotel are massive across Europe and last year won the Best International Act award at the EMAs in Munich. They also took home four statues at the MTV Latin Awards earlier this year...
