Tokio Hotel When you start the first part of its "Welcome to Humanoid City Tour" - February 22, there will be concerts to be held at the Olympia stadium in Moscow, Paris, Rome and (so far) only two dates for Oberhausen Germany and Hamburg (26 and 28 February)

Evidence that the friends of the school in Magdeburg are the stars of the real world with its melancholy Metallic-Glam-Rock. The 20-year twins Bill (vocals) and Tom Kaulitz (guitar), Tokio Hotel told us how it was stated as peculiar style artists and creators and combatants in a world that still has to learn to respect them.

Interview:

GQ: Bill and Tom Kaulitz. We are with you without your two bandmates Georg Listing and Gustav Schäfer. Are insulted?
Tom: No, absolutely not. They thank us for it and raise the chair.
Bill: If it were up Georg and Gustav would end up playing bass and drums on Tokio Hotel and was kept out of everything else.

GQ: Is the group divided?
Bill: Not at all. This difference has been evident almost from the beginning, let us prefer the whole thing to us as photos, interviews and red carpets. Six or seven years ago, only small newspapers of the people wanted to talk to us, but even then it was mostly Tom and I, who represented the band.

GQ: Your two friends are still living in Magdeburg, but you moved five years ago.
Bill: Gustav and Georg also lived here during our first recording sessions, but they backed down, really fast. To be honest, I can not understand that. But the case might be because Tom and I were special. Our childhood was difficult. Going to school in a village near Magdeburg was horrible. We were so happy to get out.

GQ: A lot of pictures in those years can be found on the Internet. Any embarrassing childhood is not private? How did those pictures there?
Bill: Many of them have been published by former classmates. Other news we gave to ourselves: As infants, children and pictures of us, and the impressions of previous concerts, Tokio Hotel, when it was Devilish.

GQ: No need a photo album, you may just find your memories with Google.
Bill: We recently decided to take more pictures. We travel to such beautiful cities, we have to do and see so many things that is something that must be captured ... Then we realized you need not do it! We always have a camera crew with us. We have given up taking pictures in private life.

GQ: With most other German bands of small explosion teenager, promotion ending soon. Tokio Hotel in contrast, are a worldwide hit with an MTV award, sold-out concerts in Europe and in positions of success in the U.S.. To keep pace with the demands: Is it necessary to decide to live your life fully in public?
Bill: Tom and I have made that decision, yes. Including all the negatives - but we have learned to live with it. Only becomes bad when people are drawn to this and do not want parents, family, friends. We are doing everything possible to protect them from the curious eyes of citizens. But it has become difficult to lead a normal life who Kaulitz is named today.

GQ: Being a pop star, even having to sacrifice a normal life almost in its entirety - exactly when you took this decision?
Bill: At age 15. That was when we hit "Durch den Monsun" was released. It was amazing, we put the outcry. Then the news first appeared ...
Tom: ... and get the full program, immediately!
Bill: the first stories in the tabloid press had been there before. And when our song was played on the radio, the demand grew, we wonder: what is happening here? How we come? For example, I left a glass out there somewhere, and you could buy it on eBay the next day. However, how are you are educational experiences. We started early and start learning early, accordingly. Tokio Hotel is not a job, is our life. Beyond that, there is almost nothing left, no more family. During that year that were produced our new album we thought did not finish in the press. That did not work at all.

Tom: There is a switch to change it. None at the end of the day.

GQ: Have you ever doubted? There are celebrities who can disconnect more easily, because they remain in the bottom.
Bill: Of course I wondered: Did I do the same again? We see friends from the old school. They go to college or get their first job experiences. We do not know. Fortunately, I always get to the point where I realize that I do is a call for me. What else should I do? I can not live with success, but I can not live without it, either.

GQ: But the music also runs in the family. Your stepfather plays in a band, too. Is it true that you got into the rock & roll?
Bill: He never led us to this. The only towards music and had instruments at home. At some point, we both join it. Once our stepfather realized that Tom wanted to play guitar, he explained the basics. But it was not in school. Do not let anyone teach us. Tom and I have a serious problem with authority.

GQ: Was that the reason that you moved so soon?
Bill: As I said, barely able to endure life in the small town. And our studio is in Hamburg.
Tom: First, often went home. But over the last four years we have lived here, 100% shared a studio apartment. Bedrooms only for boys with four dogs. We can not imagine any other way. I do not think that one day some of us move.

GQ: Still sounds strange to outsiders. Of course, the brothers stick - but they never fight and share almost everything ...
Bill: (interrupting) ... Wait. I can not imagine this with siblings. Do not forget that we are identical twins. That is something special, that's the difference.
Tom: That I loiter and think I might be an hour without Bill, it never happens. We have enough room in the apartment to keep us out of the respective forms of each, and yet, we stayed in the living room together all day. Just enter different rooms for sleeping

GQ: You are both vegetarians. Was it a joint decision, too?
Tom & Bill: (on the same exact time) Yes! (laughs)
Tom: That would not work otherwise. Would be unbearable to one if the other still eat meat.
Bill: That decision was for animals. Although I loved the meat before! I practically lived on hamburgers. But fortunately, there are plenty of good alternatives.
Tom: But do not think we're on a journey of wellness! I still eat pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers - just no meat - all day. It is still deliciously healthy. They lack only the meat.

GQ: So much harmony very scary, even with twins. You never hate each other?
Bill: Yes, temporarily. At 13, we were at war for a year. We were going through puberty and is being tested our borders. In that time we had separate friends, and each spent time with his girlfriend. We grew apart a bit at that time.
Tom: But now we even have the same friends.

GQ: Does music bring you back together?
Bill: This joint is almost the only thing that remained constant over time. Even when we got on well. Always take the band seriously. Georg and Gustav were a little different, at first: saw music as his hobby. Georg sometimes skipped the tests. Tom and I were much more serious and determined. We can not forget that we only we played in front of ten people in the youth center.
Tom: It looks like even today. With this you can actually get the charge, because we want to control everything, no matter how complicated things because of it. Each image that is released has to be given the green light for us. Decisions can take years, because everyone wants a say in it.
Bill: we are almost never really satisfied. We are control freaks, perfectionists completely. I tried to be more relaxed recently. However, let go and give things in the hands of a stranger - it's really hard for me when it comes to the band.

GQ: Is the Achilles heel of the brothers Kaulitz?
Tom: Do not walk around issues that we do not want to be near.
Bill: When we fall in step, when something went wrong, we are all silent. Nobody talks.

GQ: Have you ever been in problems that were not worth all the drama? That the company chose the wrong color for the cover or something?
Tom: (deep breath) That would be a catastrophe. Explode.
Bill: If something happened, I could not sleep well for a year ... But I do remember something: some of our songs of Humanoid had been online, illegally, three months before the album's release. I could hardly believe that someone stole our art in which we put so much time and energy.

GQ: A widespread problem today. How did you react?
Bill: We will not give the music companies in advance anymore. There are times when you put in the wrong hands. We were careful before, but we learned from that.
Tom: All you need is to keep the circle as small as possible. At company level, there are many players in Tokio Hotel: the German mark, French, Interscope in America. There is a countless amount of people involved that can not be controlled.

GQ: If music is an emotional topic, would not endanger the project of the love between brothers band?
Tom: You could see it that way. Theoretically. We are both approaching the problem of the negative aspects of things. If there is a bad message, we forget the 20 good that we have before. The bad news they improve the situation. You can simply pass on the positive things.
Bill: This is typical of twins. When I'm happy, Tom has 10,000 things on his mind. And vice versa. We can sit next to each other on a sofa, all relaxed, occurs once a year.
Tom: Not really I think what happened in the past five years.

GQ: It's almost as if one could hear it in your music. The teenager usually are tied to the soundtracks of light, brighter and more sold - Tokio Hotel's songs have always been surprisingly dark, serious and devoid of childish innocence. Guys How the hell can you two be so big-headed, according to a musical style?
Bill: Good question. In private, they rarely argue about music. He only listens to hip hop and I hear all kinds of things. We can not understand in this regard.
Tom: When we started, it was very easy. We had no choice! We never sat down to talk: we will sound like this or that group. We were limited. We did what we were capable. It is interesting how this unique style lasted until today. There is a thread through all our work, a clear line.

GQ: When one sees you, today - the glamorous exotic as that of Bill and Tom's street style - you never think you are twins. When was the time when you developed in different directions?
Bill: It's complicated. " We just wanted to get out of the shadow of another at some point. Outside of that annoying, existence of public rooms. Imagine this. At the school always was: the twins here, the twins there ... Moreover, I think it's natural for everyone to develop his personality in that we do everything together. Or maybe not.
Tom: I'm telling you this: All that a complete human being has in itself, be divided between the two. Each of us has chosen his part and a specialist in your area. Bill is the type of creation, I'm more from the business side. . If you add this, we are just one person, a human being. Only one very versatile.

GQ: That also means that you have never been rivals, in all these years?
Bill: We never thought about who is the favorite son and who is the black sheep. We were always a team. As I said, we moved at 15, we earned our own money. We had no time for childish antics - it happened very early. Sometimes I feel mine and Tom's life has been twice as fast, because every one teaches the other what you learned. Identical twins grow faster, because all share. Including experience.

GQ: As a man with four ears.
Tom & Bill: Exactly!
Tom: A child only lives just across, has only one point of view. We have always shared everything. He looked at all aspects.
Bill: Our mother always told us that once she had turned and had turned off the lights in our room at night, there were questions which remain awake for at least another hour to tell us things and talk about them. In a way, remains so.

GQ: you said to your mother: When I grow up, get you a Cadillac!
Bill: Not really, but I always wanted to be independent, with our pocket money. We we kept what we had for clothes, mobile phones and the like. To have responsibility it was never threatening to us. I felt better at 15, when I knew I could afford on my own and fill my fridge.

GQ: Do you ever wish for another brother or sister?
Bill: No, not really.
Tom: That would have been really difficult for the new baby. We always had a strong connection - the outsiders never come to 100%. I do not want to imagine with another brother ..
Bill: Maybe it would have worked half a year apart, but that's not really possible, biologically. (laughs)

GQ: What would have happened if only one had made famous? Could have been inseparable as friends?
Tom: I think so! Perhaps she would have developed in different directions, at first. One would have to be a musician and the other could have gone to uni. But the moment one of us would have become a real success, he would have gone the other also. Bill would have made her manager. Or if he had studied industrial design, I have hired.
Bill: No rumor of this, please. What what you said is just a game of thought. But if you ever sing at any other place outside of Tokio Hotel, I could never do it without Tom. Even if I were alone in a picture, I need you behind me and support me in my words and actions. We simply do not function properly on our own.
